It's 8:47 AM right now. I've been awake 2 1/2 hours and while heading to drop Amélie off to school, I've already witnessed a front row view of the bus driver intentionally hit a man. I guess the dude was having a bad day... he was making me nervous since the moment I got on the bus. The driver was speeding and forcing his way through cars and pedestrians, nearly hitting them. We arrived to the train station and there were lots of people crossing the streets to get to work and such. Pedestrians have the right of way, but I guess the driver didn't care. He came close to hitting lots of people and finally, this one man was crossing the street and saw the bus, but he was already in the middle of the street and so he stopped, forcing the driver to stop the bus. The man was kind of nervous, I could tell. He backed up but then decided he would just go ahead and finish crossing. The driver wasn't happy about it so he stepped on the gas and hit the man. Well, not HIT, it was more of a shove. But still... shoving a 1 or 2 ton BUS against a 150 pound man... that's just wrong. The man kind of froze in disbelief and the driver slammed down on the horn for like a full 10 seconds. He was just insane! Another driver who was waiting on the side for his shift had to stop the driver and cuss him out in French... probably telling him to calm the heck down. It was unbelievable how out of control he was! Even after the incident he kept speeding through the crowd of pedestrians. Amélie even turned to me with a confused and scared face and asked me why the driver was being mean. So! That was the story of my morning.
Life's been good so far. I've been sick though, like with a headache and stomachache since Friday. At first, I thought it was because I ate an entire pizza at the café with like a full inch of cheese stacked on it. It was delicious though. But the headaches have been sticking around and I'm just so tired all the time! But whatever... It will eventually get better... hopefully.
Well, an update on what I've been up to lately: I haven't really been up to much, other than adjusting to not having Amélie with me all day. I kind of get bored a lot and try to practice the piano, paint, clean, work out, and eat. All my friends work too, so there's not really much to do with other people.
Saturday I got together with my friend Elisabeth and we decided to go to a sunrise concert the next morning. It started at 6 AM the next day so she slept over at my place and we got up at 5 AM... and dragged ourselves out of bed and went to the lake. Now, I was expecting, for a SUNRISE CONCERT, that there was going to be an orchestra by the lake playing beautiful classical music while the sun rises over the lake. I think Elisabeth was expecting somewhat the same thing. But instead when we asked for directions, we got pointed to a small, dark room by a swimming dock. There was an "artistic" lady with a guitar and an old man with an accordion. They played some salsa music in the dark and the lady sang while waving her hands around dramatically. The music was good though. A little strange. I was surprised how many people actually showed up. But me and Elisabeth were so tired that we were falling asleep and when the concert ended at 7 AM, we headed back to my place, went back to bed, overslept, and had to throw ourselves together for church. But hey, it was an experience.
This weekend, I was planning on going to Paris. I cancelled the trip cause I calculated the cost of the train ticket and hotel... and realized I would only have barely enough money to pay for the train and hotel, leaving me with scarcely any money for food or souvenirs. It wasn't really worth it to me, so I decided to put it off until November. I'm still planning on going to Italy for a whole week in October, but my debit card isn't working and plane ticket costs rise every day, so I'm getting nervous cause I wanna get a good deal. But I'm still going to Italy, no matter what, cause I have the entire week off so it's a rare opportunity. Anyway, instead of going to Paris this weekend, I'm going to be joining the family on their trip to Interlaken. It's about a three hour train ride to the mountainous national park. We'll be staying from Thursday to Sunday. There are lots of hikes and gorgeous scenery, so I'm so excited! It's been so long since I've been hiking in the mountains and I was starting to miss it.
Well, that is all I have to say for now cause I'm really really tired and I'd like to go back to bed!!! Til next time y'all!
